A Fierce Allegiance Glossary
This glossary is designed to help readers navigate the technology, politics, and culture of A Fierce Allegiance. It is spoiler-free and grouped by category for ease of use. Whether you're a first-time reader or returning to sync, this guide is your neural uplink to the world of the Moirai.
Language Note:
Some words in The Moirai Cycle—especially honorifics, insults, and everyday slang—are drawn from Japanese. While several First Tier families (like the Ikedas) retain ties to Japanese lineage, these terms are now more commonly heard in Third Tier cant, where cultural fragments have drifted, fused, and survived in new forms. Their use reflects linguistic evolution in a post-Earth society shaped by collapse, class, and diaspora.

An elite military and enforcement force aligned with the First Tier. Known for order, intimidation, and unflinching loyalty. Specialist organizations based in the Second Tier. An internal psychic terrain where thoughts, memories, and illusions manifest. Often accessed during Sync. Simulacra—memory echoes or projections—frequently appear here. An Empathic defense technique used to block psychic intrusion or emotional bleed. Enhanced or altered with technological implants. Mods may be functional, cosmetic, or extreme. Erotisuits are a type of mod: skin-tight garments used for seduction, infused with synthetic pheromones. Data degradation or code residue infecting the nervous system. Can cause interface lag (grit) or seizure-inducing feedback (neurocrawl). A specialist in neural systems and Empathic recovery. Rare outside First Tier care centers. A paralyzing drug or override system used to forcibly shut down the nervous system. Often deployed in capture or restraint protocols. A term originally used as an insult for individuals with extensive biomechanical or cybernetic enhancements—“more machine than human.” In Guardian and First Tier circles, it implies lost humanity. In Drift and Assembly culture, the term has been reclaimed as a badge of survival. A cybernetic interface point embedded in the body. Used to connect directly to data networks, neural systems, or implants. Rare and often unstable technology left behind by ancient civilizations—usually of Dregan or unknown origin. Feared, hoarded, and rarely understood. A high-fidelity data stream injected directly into neural systems. Powerful but dangerous—often overwhelming without filters. Quantum-encoded data used for secure transmission. Nearly impossible to intercept or replicate. A person forcibly cleared of neural implants—often through trode extraction or memory erasure. Leaves lasting mental and physical trauma. A volatile crystalline energy source used to power ships and high-tier tech. Believed to be alien in origin. Seish levels fluctuate under stress; unstable but essential for interstellar travel. A sudden flare of psychic or empathic energy—often caused by trauma, stress, or overclocked implants. A neural or empathic alignment between individuals or systems, often facilitated by trodes. Sync integrity measures the strength and stability of that bond. A psychic anchor or mental link, often used during empathic probing to stabilize or prevent dissociation. The stratified social and political system of post-Collapse civilization: Neural implants (short for electrodes) that enable direct brain-computer interfacing. Used for communication, control, or cognitive enhancement. A data connection between a person, implant, or device and a larger system or network. Enables real-time transmission or sync.Guardian
